Be productive this summer~

 

Now that summer is upon us, it is more important than ever to be more productive with your time. I am juggling kids and their activities, pool time, work and clients, and upcoming projects. It can feel a bit overwhelming. Because of this, it is especially important to use my time wisely. I feel like I have spurts of time to get things done, so I can’t procrastinate or waste my time. I absolutely love summer and the ability to relax with the kids and simply play, but it also creates a bit of anxiety. I feel like there is never enough time in the day and I am constantly juggling my work hat and my mom hat. I do have some great things coming up that I want to share with you. For those of you who live in Colorado, I am giving away many summer activities from Breckenridge Resorts. The focus for all of you this week is to creatively find ways to be more productive with your time. It is important to enjoy the summer and make time to relax and rejuvenate. You can still be productive and enjoy your family time. I am going to offer some tips that will hopefully create more balance.

 

ACTION TIPS FOR THE WEEK:1. One-minute rule

It is so easy to procrastinate the many daily tasks and chores. You get so frazzled with everything that you allow simple chores to take a back burner. All of these tasks add up over time. Try using a one-minute rule of thumb. Anything that would take less than a minute needs to be done as soon as you think of it. Put away the mail. Water the plants. Shoot a quick email. Recycle old papers. Accomplishing these tasks will free up your time and energy.
2. Keep a pad of paper available
I have a yellow pad of paper on my desk. Every day I jot down things I have to do and people I need to contact. I also jot down upcoming events and projects that I need to begin working on. I simply cannot keep everything in my head. Just seeing my list keeps me focused on what is most important. I do not surf the internet or look around Facebook when  I have my list in front of me. I know how valuable my time is.
3. Ask for help
I started putting together my summer babysitters back in February. I knew I would need help with my work schedule and many upcoming projects. When you are trying to be productive with your time, sometimes you simply need a bit of alone time. Do not hesitate to ask for help from sitters, spouses, friends and family. People are always willing to lend a hand, but you need to ask. Determine how many hours of help you need per week and then make sure you use your time wisely. Good luck!
