Create your own sanctuary~

I want to start by wishing everyone a very Happy 4th of July! Hopefully everyone has plans to spend the day with friends or family. I also want to apologize for being absent from the Monday Morning Tips for the past month. I literally have been out of town most of June and so some things had to get pushed aside. I spent some time at Devil’s Thumb Ranch in gorgeous Granby,Colorado. I then spent a week in Breckenridge for a family reunion. And lastly, I hosted a retreat at C Lazy U Ranch up in the Colorado Mountains. For me, the mountains are my spiritual retreat. Waking up every morning, looking at the pristine ice capped mountains, breathing in the fresh air, listening to the quiet calm of nothing, just fills my spirit. I was very lucky to spend so much time in the mountains this past month, but I also realized I needed to find a way to rejuvenate and replenish myself here at home. I think society is moving at such a fast pace and it takes its toll on our bodies, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It is vital to take time to release toxins and bring a sense of calm to your world. So I thought this week’s tip would focus on ways to rejuvenate on a budget, even if you are not waking up in a breathtaking location of beautiful mountains or calming oceans. Commit to yourself and your health. Make sure to put yourself and your well-being at the top of your priority list. Here are some ways to bring joy to your life and feel a sense of calm.

 

ACTION TIPS FOR THE WEEK:

 

1.Surround yourself by fresh flowers

I forget how many beautiful flowers I have growing right in my front and back yard at times. It is so easy to cut some fresh flowers and put them in a vase in your home. Waking up or walking into the home and seeing beautiful flowers just puts an instant smile on your face. If you don’t have them at your home, you can purchase some inexpensive ones weekly at your market.

 

2. Spend time in nature

Even if you don’t live in the mountains or near a beach, you can still reap the benefits of nature and the outdoors. Just spending time surrounded by nature, you will feel a sense of calm and replenishment. Make a point of getting outside every day. Walk away from work. Get out of the office. Leave your cell phone and gadgets at home.

 

3. Meditate

While I was up at C Lazy U Ranch, I took a short video of the river running through the property. It was so peaceful. Just watching a short video, or meditating with relaxing music will calm your spirit.If you wish to rejuvenate and create your own sanctuary, you need to commit to it. Meditation is an easy and quick fix to escape the stress and worries of daily life.

  1. I love having fresh flowers in my home, but I have a hard time talking myself into “splurging” and buying them. You’re right though, having them in my home on a regular basis would put a smile on my face.
