Experiences We Can’t Understand

Has something ever happened to you, that you didn’t understand at the time, but as time went on a reason for the experience revealed itself to you? Everything in your life leads to something else in your life. All of your experiences have led you to exactly where you are today. Whether a situation felt bad at the time, or it was a positive experience, they both led you to today. So, in the big picture, every event is created in your life for a very specific purpose. Let’s assume you were in a dead end job, or you lived in an apartment you disliked. What if you met your future spouse at the dead end job? Or, you met an extraordinary friend at the apartment complex? Was there an underlying reason for you to be in that exact place at that time in your life? Probably. My mother passed away when I was only 24 years old. It was the absolute most difficult and heart wrenching period of my entire life. I will always struggle to make reason of her suffering and passing. What I do know however, is that I know without a shadow of a doubt what it means to live my life to the fullest. I know what it means to let go of insignificant details in my life. And, I surround myself by positive individuals while I follow my passion and purpose in my life. She taught me what it means to live your life “fully”, and she taught me to always have complete respect and love for myself. So, her passing was a catalyst in helping me become the person I am today. Of course I’d rather her be here with me in person, but that was out of my control, so I have to choose to live in her honor. That is an example of not understanding the reasoning behind experiences, but trusting there is a bigger picture aligning for each of us. If you take some time to remember your own past, uncovering the reasons for why things happened, you may restore your faith in the present.

ACTION TIPS FOR THE WEEK:

1. Look back
Look back on past experiences and try to see the reasoning behind them. Can you see why certain things happened? Can you make sense of someone coming into your life at the exact time you needed them? Do a scan of your life and write down why you feel certain experiences presented themselves to you.

2. Now in the present
Now that you’ve reviewed your past, what are you currently going through? Are you unhappy with certain elements of your life? Is there a positive spin you can make out of your situation? Remember that you might not be able to see the full picture right now, it may take some time to unveil the truth to you. Just have faith that you are where you need to be right now.
3. Don’t settle
Just because you have faith in the bigger picture doesn’t mean you have to settle for things that make you unhappy. Are you unhappy in a relationship? Are you dissatisfied with work? Fate will step in when it needs to, but in the mean time take control of your life and the choices you make. Do one thing, just something this week, to move you to a better place in your life.

Have a great week!
