We all have dreams, ambitions, and goals we want to achieve in life, but it is important to lay the foundation first. Too often people jump right in with both feet and fail to achieve what they set out to achieve solely because they were ill-prepared before they began. It is important to declutter your life first, thus making room for your “goal” to fit in. People get frustrated by not achieving the goal, not realizing the importance of starting at the ground up. Cleaning up your life, setting boundaries and tapping into resources will only make achieving your goal that more accessible. You need to let go of certain tasks and obligations in your life in order to make room for what you do want in your life. Who would ever consider building a home before laying the foundation? This would never even be an option. It is crucial to take your time and create an atmosphere that will support your goals and dreams. Don’t waste your time jumping ahead of yourself, you will only delay the process in the long run and get frustrated in the process. Take your time, be smart and ask for help when help is needed.
ACTION TIPS FOR THE WEEK:
1. Declutter your life
Make a list this week of everything that you are tolerating in your life, everything that drains your energy. Think of everything in your life that is an annoyance, from home and family to work and relationships. Some examples would be a shower curtain you’ve been meaning to replace, a friend that never returns your calls, a pile of bills you keep putting off, anything that causes frustration when you notice it. Look at this list and make every effort to cross things off every week. The more you rid yourself of toxic energy the more able you are to replace it with the positives in your life.
2. Organize and Simplify
Again, before you can create and achieve goals you need to organize and simplify your life. A cluttered life, both physically and emotionally will only distract you and your vision. Take some time this week to organize the space in your home and office. Focus on one area at a time and do not move on until completed. As you are organizing, have the mantra of “Simplicity” going through your head. Get rid of anything and everything that you haven’t used in the past 3 months. If you haven’t used it in the past 3 months, the likelihood that you are going to now is pretty slim. Again, make room for what you do want in your life.
If you have goals in mind or changes you would like to make to your life, you need to prioritize your time. Your time is extremely valuable, choose wisely how you want to spend it. Track how you spend your time this week. You may be spending much more time watching tv and corresponding via the computer than need be. Think about how to restructure your days to support your goal. Get rid of things that are distracting you and plug in ways to succeed.
